Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis: Drama at CinemaCon Las Vegas

During a stage presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last week, Olivia Wilde was handed a yellow envelope marked “Personal and Confidential.”  Wilde was discussing her upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling when the ordeal transpired, confusing both Wilde and the audience.  Out of curiosity, she opened the envelope to see what was inside.  After noting the contents, Wilde continued with her presentation.  Later, sources confirmed that the envelope contained legal papers pertaining to her children with ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis.

Wilde and Sudeikis officially split in November 2020 after more than nine years together.  The couple have two children, 8-year-old Otis and 5-year-old Daisy.  Sudeikis had asked his attorney to draw up legal papers to establish jurisdiction relating to their children.  The woman who managed to make it to the front row of CinemaCon and hand Wilde the papers while she was presenting on stage is still a mystery.  The fact that she was able to approach the stage without interference from security is puzzling and troubling.  According to People Magazine, Mitch Neuhauser, Managing Director at CinemaCon LLC, said on Wednesday: “As the convention organizer, we have never in the history of the convention had an incident where a delegate has approached the stage who was not authorized to be there.  In light of this incident, we are reevaluating our security procedures to ensure the safety of all of our attendees.”

Although Sudeikis claims he had no prior knowledge of the manner in which Wilde would be served with the legal papers, it is hard to believe he was truly kept in the dark about such events.  Regardless, many believe the behavior was inappropriate and overly harsh.  According to sources, the couple have established a great co-parenting routine and are committed to putting the children first.  Wilde being served during the middle of her presentation did not communicate this “great co-parenting relationship” to puzzled onlookers.  Instead, it implied hatred and animosity, and it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.  For now, all can agree that Wilde handled herself with great poise and grace, despite the circumstances.
