Busch and Van Metre on the Outs

Kurt Busch is a professional racecar driver who recently had a big win at the Kansas Speedway with the 23XI Racing team he joined this season.  Days after his win, news broke that Busch’s wife, Ashley, had filed for divorce in Florida.  The couple were married in January 2017 on the island of St. Barts and have been married for five years.

According to TMZ sports, court documents stated that the marriage was “irretrievably broken,” and that Busch committed “a tortious act.”  Further details regarding this were unavailable.  Additional reports state that Busch had cut Ashley off from the couple’s joint bank accounts and credit cards and asked her to move out of the marital home by June.

Ashley, formerly known as Ashley Van Metre, is a professional polo player and brand ambassador for the U.S. Polo Association when she met Busch.  The pair met at a party on Van Metre’s farm in 2011.  The couple hired Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler, to headline the wedding.  Tyler is certified by a church to be a minister.  Although the exact cost Busch and Van Metre paid for Tyler to headline the wedding is unknown, reports state that Tyler can charge up to $200,000 to conduct a wedding.

Busch has confirmed that the couple is calling it quits and has asked for the public to respect the couple’s privacy during this difficult time.
